2009 PROPOSED PRIORITIES AND GOALS
TAKE THE CHALLENGE!

Help stop discrimination against people with disabilities. For us to know what is important to you, we are seeking public input for our 2009 priorities and goals.

We need your help to determine the specific disability issues to be addressed, and the types of advocacy services that Disability Rights Center will provide over the coming year. To find out more about the work we can do, please contact us or check our website.

The public comment period will run from May 2, 2008 thru July 11, 2008.


DRC Priority 1. Abuse, Neglect or Exploitation - disability rights advocacy, including monitoring and investigations, for individuals who are at risk of, or have experienced abuse, neglect or exploitation.

Priority 1. Goal 1. Disability Rights Center will ensure that people with disabilities are not abused or neglected in institutions, community settings and psychiatric programs.

DRC Priority 2. Community Services & Health Care - disability rights advocacy for people with disabilities access to community-based services (Medicaid, Medicare, mental health services, long-term care, transportation, and home and community based services).

Special Education - disability rights advocacy for students with disabilities to enforce and protect their rights to special education and related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and Section 504 through individual advocacy, state complaints, due process and collaboration with other special education advocacy organizations.
